Director of Operations

Wayne Cochrane is Director of Operations for First Book/Le Premier Livre, a registered Canadian charity with offices in Toronto.  First Book/Le Premier Livre provides new books and educational materials to Canadian children from low-income families.

Wayne provides strategic insight and logistical management expertise and is responsible for managing First Book National Book Bank and the launch of First Book Marketplace in Canada.  Additionally, in his role he is responsible for community outreach and acts as liaison for warehouse partners and book recipient groups.

Prior to joining First Book/Le Premier Livre, Wayne worked within the nonprofit sector, with a focus on service delivery, volunteer management and community organizing, where he managed cross-functional teams and led the planning of community events.

Wayne is excited to be joining First Book/Le Premier Livre and building on the near 20 year success First Book has experienced as he helps oversee the distribution of an estimated 100,000 books across Canada this year.

One of his favorite Canadian authors is Ian Wallace who wrote The Sandwich; named a Canadian classic in April 1981 by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre in Toronto.
