First Book Canada Awarded Sustainable Development Goal Recognition From United Nations Association

TORONTO, Ontario (May 28, 2018) – First Book Canada received the United Nations Association’s Sustainable Development Goal Recognition Award earlier this month for its outstanding work to increase equal access to quality education for children in need, furthering Goal 4 of the 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. The United Nations Association in Canada Toronto Region Branch presented the award at its “Be the Change” gala on May 12th.

“We are thrilled to be working alongside the many Canadian organizations pursuing Sustainable Development Goal 4. First Book Canada is providing access to inclusive, equitable, and quality education by ensuring that children own new, high-quality books that will advance their educational attainment and social and emotional skills,” said Heather Farquharson, Deputy Executive Director of First Book Canada.

Sustainable Development Goal 4 focuses on quality education, including ensuring universal access to quality education. First Book Canada was among four organizations recognized for their work.
