Schools Across Canada Win Copies of Greta Thunberg’s No One is too Small to Make a Difference
TORONTO, ON: First Book Canada is pleased to announce the results of its fall contest to provide winning classrooms across Canada with copies of climate activist and TIME Person of the Year Greta Thunberg’s NO ONE IS TOO SMALL TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
During the month of October, Penguin Random House Canada supported a national contest with First Book Canada, calling on classrooms in high-needs communities across Canada that are registered with First Book Canada to share what they are doing to help protect the environment.
“For this contest, we were keen to learn how young students were thinking about the environment, and to share Greta’s amazing book with as many elementary school classes as possible,” said Tom Best, Executive Director, First Book Canada. “The many incredible submissions we received are a fantastic demonstration of how today’s youth care for the environment and the world in which they live. We loved seeing students’ involvement both in their schools as well as their communities.”
In August 2018, a fifteen-year-old Greta Thunberg, decided not to go to school one day. Her actions ended up sparking a global movement for action against the climate crisis, inspiring millions of pupils to go on strike for our planet and our environment, forcing governments to listen, and earning her a Nobel Peace Prize nomination.
A winning class in each province and territory has received 40 copies of Greta’s book. Runner-up classrooms across the country were selected via a random draw to receive 25 copies of Greta’s book. The winners are:
