First Book Canada Disaster Relief

Part of First Book Canada’s mission is to amplify the voice of the educators and provide resources for a changing classroom. First Book Canada provides relief efforts across the country.

A National State of Emergency

First Book Canada was on the ground in Nova Scotia, delivering books in the wake of Hurricane Fiona.

In 2022, Educators and non-profit partners in the Maritimes contacted First Book Canada for books to stock libraries and flooded classrooms. First Book Canada responded: we have distributed more than 2,000 books and resources affected by Hurricane Fiona.

First Book Canada continues to provide relief efforts across the country, but we are still working to ensure that affected kids and families are able to get much-needed items to restore a sense of normalcy. Help us get books and other essentials to kids in need by making a donation today.

Know a Teacher Affected By a Natural Disaster?

First Book Canada can provide immediate access to the First Book Canada Marketplace.

Educators with students from low-income families, or those affected by disasters, can access the fund through the First Book Canada Marketplace website and select books, notebooks, hygiene kits, clothing, school supplies, and other items that schools aren’t providing or parents can’t afford, and to help restock schools and libraries. To become eligible for funds, educators must complete their First Book Canada registration.
